totally confused!!! =(

i dont know what my topic should be yet. i want to do something broad, and something that i dont have to do research on. i want this to be a paper that is more on my perspective. but i dont kn ow what it should be. the first thing i wanted to do is something along the lines of comparing celebrities and how some get different publicity than others. then i wanted to do R"n"B vs HiphOp. this is something that i definately dont need much research for. these are just some things that i have been brainstorming about.

[uncanny shadows]

i read sigmund freud's concept of the "uncanny". the belief of "something being familiar, but still strange at the same time" when i read it, it seemed to have opened my eyes to things that i never really paid much attention to. even though we sort of live our lives with the uncanny, it still never grazed me until i read this concept. i kept thinkling of the matrix when i was reading it. because the article is much like that of the matrix. becuase even though everything we encounter is manmade, it still is uncanny in a way. the only thing that i can say isnt really uncanny is nature.

on the other hand we have Jungs concept of "shadows". this concept made me think alot. throughout life you encounter things of importance. some things you will never forget. some things so important that they become a symbol in your life. past experiences play a big part in the way that you live out your life. meybe you are afraid to take risks or your just a reckless individial. all this falls into the concept of a symbol. there was something that you encountered in your life that made you the way you are now. and i dont mean just one incident, it cant be a series of circumstances that molded you. im going to give a personal example. when i was 11 years old i went to a sleep away camp. and i went to use one of the potapotties and there was this huge tarantula in there!, and then from that day on i kinda developed a small case of arachniphobia. that spider that i encoutered, really influenced the way i am today..........

Wierd......

Open your eyes, i never thought i would see a movie that rivals the matrix on terms of weirdness. the movie was about a guy who is kind of like a player because he never sleeps with the same woman. in order for him to sleep with her a second time, she has to be extremely good in bed. if that doesnt spell "player" then i dont know what will. this movie reminded me of the matrix a little bit because, it distorts the ideas of reality and fantasy. it bends your mind and makes you think beyond what your used to. another thing that i feel links these two movies together, is love. in matrix neo was in love with trinity and vice versa. theres an element of love in "open your eyes" as well. but other than that i really dont see any other relations. but i definately enjoyed watching both movies. i really like movies that are unpredictable and make you think.

hehehe......the matrix!!!

when i saw the matrix at home i didnt really un derstand it at all. but when i watched it in class i really started to realize what it was really about. and it was really intriguing.

the real worls is basically being controlled by machinery monsters. all the people are being fooled into thinking that the world that they are living in is the real world when in all actuallity the are being fooled. keanu reeves who plays the character "neo" is the one who is looking for answers to why this is happening and how to put a stop to it. although i still dont fully understand the whole story but i got that much. throughout the whole entire movie all i kept thinking was "what if"...and i still do. i felt like the matrix was like......a computerized dreamworld where these machines were controlling our every move. like a girl playing with a barbie doll. the movie was kinda bizzare in a way to. the matrix was all about finding the truth. and i feel like thats all we do. so the movie sorta representd us in a way. the people living in the matrix are just like us living today. the modern matrix is considered the government. they control what we see, what we wear ect. this is the same in the matrix. thats why its such a good comparison. and also socrates cave. we definately do live in socrates cave because we have yet to visualize what the truth is. also when you think about it, the matrix is more action packed version of "the allegory of the cave' because they are very similar.

about me

Hello, my name is Elijah Evans. I a, 18 years old and I graduated from high school in June of 08’. I am still adjusting to the differences between high school and college. Mainly because I feel a whole lot more pressure than I did in high school. Once I get used to it I know I will be fine. I guess a little nervous energy is always good. I’m already pretty familiar with this campus because I went to MCHS, which is like the LAGCC offspring, and I must say that I really like that atmosphere of this college. I hope I make a few friends. That will definitely help in a lot of ways. I also hope to have a good relationship with my professors as well. I want to accomplish all my goals and not slack off like I usually do. I’m going to stay on top of things and try not to fall behind. Well, that’s it I guess, thanks for taking the time to read this. =)
